Privacy Policy
To operate safely and effectively, our ride-sharing platform collects and manages a variety of data. This information is crucial for ensuring a seamless and secure experience for both drivers and riders. Below is an outline of the types of data we gather and their purposes.
What we collect
- Profile information. Name, phone number and email, essential for creating user accounts, communicating ride details, and providing customer support. An optional photo allows users to personalise their profiles and helps drivers identify riders.
- Eligibility. Internal verification status and base-access flags, used to verify eligibility for rides in areas requiring special access such as military bases.
- Location. Precise GPS data during trips for routing and tracking, plus limited background access for safety purposes such as emergencies.
- Ride information. Pickup and dropoff locations, routes, time and distance, used to calculate fares and provide navigation. Receipts are generated automatically after each trip.
- Device and diagnostics. IP address, device identifiers and crash logs, used to identify and resolve technical issues.
- Payments and communications. Payment tokens and invoices, and in-app, SMS and voice interactions managed through our communication providers.
How we use it
Duty Driver matches riders with available drivers using algorithms that consider proximity and estimated arrival, then provides real-time navigation from pickup to destination.
Where operating in areas requiring Department of Defense eligibility or base access, verification confirms a user's background and access. This protects both passengers and drivers while complying with regulatory requirements.
The platform handles payment through methods such as credit and debit cards or digital wallets, and generates receipts automatically after each ride.
We use analytics and diagnostics to identify usability issues and feature requests so the app continues to improve.
Legal and TNC compliance
Duty Driver adheres to requirements set by transportation network company regulators, including the California Public Utilities Commission (CPUC). This covers driver background checks, vehicle inspections, and insurance coverage.
Sharing
We share data with trusted providers who help us run the service: Firebase, Stripe, Twilio, Google Maps API, CPUC, Mailgun. We may also share data when the law requires it, to protect safety, or during a business transaction.
Location and cookies
You control location permissions in your phone settings. Limiting them may affect features such as dispatch or navigation. We use cookies and SDKs for login, security, analytics, and features.
Your choices and rights
Depending on your location, you may request access, correction, or deletion of your data. California residents have CCPA rights: the right to know, delete, correct, and opt out of certain sharing. We do not sell personal information. Email us to make a request.
Data retention and security
We keep data only as long as needed for the app and legal requirements, including TNC and CPUC rules. We use safeguards such as encryption in transit, access controls, and monitoring. No system is 100% secure.
Children
The app is not for children under 13, and we do not knowingly collect their data.
Updates
We will update this policy as needed and post the new effective date here.
